Booked her into Vets....But does anyone know what this can be....Is she allergic to anything and what treatment do the vets give...Have you had a dog with a similar problem.?
Theres no sign of a flea infestation, could it be a form of mite?German Shepherd Dog with redness and sores on upper lips?
Sounds like it is an allergy or some thing might have bit her.
Good Luck at the vets.German Shepherd Dog with redness and sores on upper lips?
It sounds more like an allergy than anything else. If the redness and sores are only in the mouth area, it generally suggests it's from something she's had in her mouth. Perhaps she's eaten a bee or a wasp or something? That happened to my friend's cat and she ended up with a very sore, painful mouth.
Before she goes to the vets, make sure that anything she's eating or drinking isn't irritating the soreness. Make sure her food is soft, and stick to food and drink that she's always eaten with no problems, just in case it's an allergy to something she's eaten recently.
If she's generally OK in herself, then try not to worry too much. I hope everything goes well, I used to have a German Shepherd, they're gorgeous!
We can but guess, being unable, to see the actual condition. After you've seen the vet, choose a Best Answer and add a note about what the vet reckons it is.
First thought is that she is rubbing her mouth against things - the carpet, the wallpaper, the fence. Reasons are likely to be ticks or an infected tooth.
If she has ear-mites or a deep-seated ear infection, she will be rubbing her face against things to massage the base of her ears, and the friction could well abrade her lips before wearing the hair off the ear bases. She will also be kicking at those ears, with a high probability of causing a haematoma in each ear.
There is a tiny possibility that she has herpes/warts; or has been pulling on ';cutty grass'; and the saw-like edges have nicked her lips, followed by a minor infection starting up in those cuts.
Beyond that, I await your vet's verdict.
The ';soft food'; advice is totally unnecessary. Dogs are very stoic, and anyway their ideal meal consists of a chunk of raw meat, preferably on a bone that requires lots of gnawing so that bits come off then are swallowed %26amp; digested. The big ox-bones that supermarkets package for dogs are better than nothing, but not what's needed. Such a diet should have cooked table scraps added a few times a week.

One of my old GSD's used to get chapped lips, though usually only in the winter, I used to rub Vaseline in every morning, obviously though only a vet can determine what it is. Hope all is well soon.
it could be pimples. dogs and other pets can get bacteria from thier food dishes. i use metal and clean them every day. ceramic ones hold bacteria. not sure what the vet will do.
mites usually infect the ears.Did he get into a fight with another animal? They always bite their own faces.
sometimes, drinking and eating out of plastic bowls will cause red, irritated, swollen lips.
