Does moving your lips while reading to yourself make you stupid?

I was reading quotes from this poet Don Marquis and he said this: “If you want to get rich from writing, write the sort of thing that's read by persons who move their lips when they're reading to themselves.”

Is this implying that only stupid people do that?Does moving your lips while reading to yourself make you stupid?
hahaha. so funny when no one gets it. people, what Don Marquis is saying is that the majority of people are not geniuses so if you are a genius and a writer then you should write something that the average person is interested in or else you'll not be that successful.

moving your lips doesn't make you dumb, but more experienced readers don't move their lips so they can achieve higher speeds. and by average people above i mean people who arent exactly that experienced in reading.

that make sense?Does moving your lips while reading to yourself make you stupid?
It seems unlikely.

How I would interpret the quote is that to ';get rich from writing,'; you'd likely want your work to be heard and known by very many people. So those who move their lips would be introducing the work to others who are listening/around him.

If that weren't the case, then I'd say that he means that those who do move their lips while reading are actually more intelligent/more appreciative of the arts. (In order to make money from writing, the implication that it's high quality writing)
Moving your lips while you read does not make you stupid. When you're reading something fluently, (something a stupid person wouldn't do) their brain begins to process what they are reading in a physical way. Not only that, but when you're focused on reading, you are less worried about how you're controloling your lips
Moving your lips slows down your reading rate and means you take time to understand each word, which may mean you need to... Marquis with Archie and Mehetabel certainly wrote something light and easy to understand.
I'm not sure what that means, but I've been in honors english for 2 years now and I move my lips when I read and I'm in 9th grade reading at a college level, so I don't think I'm dumb. lol.
If you read it out loud in public to yourself than people might think somethings wrong with you.
no, but it makes you read slower, and thus maybe more contemplative...
Yes. %26lt;---- simple answer, you know why.
I think so, yes.

  1. You know what does make you stupid? Not using proper grammar in your blog post.

Fucking spell check how does that work?

Your honors English teachers need to be reprimanded if they have taught you for two years and this is the best you can do. You’re writing is atrocious.
